SiOnyx Talks About Testing

Test and Measurement World published an interview with SiOnyx test engineer. Not much interesting stuff there, other than performing tests with a "monochrometer" and an unusual explanation of blooming:

"I use my background in physics and fiber optics to suggest tests to the designers. For example, I may recommend testing using both pulsed and continuous light. Using pulsed light lets you see how long a device takes to respond. This kind of testing is important for sensors, because of possible "blooming." That is, if the response is too slow, residual signal from a sensor's response will add to that of the next sample, producing an error."

  1. I thought it was a monochromator....

  2. Test and Measurement World and SiOnyx think different...

  3. Well, what is the purpose of this interview? Every engineer uses the same well known procedure to do this. We would like to know the measured performance instead of this stupid interview with neither technical nor scientific information. It's really a pitty!

  4. It's nice to know that they finally hired a test engineer.

  5. they will surely patent the word "monochrometer", haha ...

  7. maybe the world of optical testing is new to T&M World so perhaps they are simply in awe of meeting someone that uses a "monochrometer" (sic)?

  8. They are talking about lag, not blooming.
