I'm not sure what it means, but Panavision Imaging web site now presents itself as Dynamax Imaging.
Update: I was told that Panavision Imaging has been sold on Dec. 18. Only about a half of the team got the offer to join the new company, the other half has been laid off. It's not clear who is the buyer. If somebody knows more details, please let us know.
Guess no one told Panavision. It still says "Panavision Imaging" on their website.

I would also like more information. They released a new product in November carying the name Dynamax-11, so it appears to me that they changed the name rather than sold the company. I can find no sale information for Panavision Imaging.
ReplyDeletePanavision Imaging was sold to a (so called) group of investors. Layed off everyone and rehired a skeleton crew. So do not expect good customer service or products.

Panavision Imaging was not "Sold". The parent Panavision wanted to shed it, so it was given away for free as long as the new owners accepted the liabilities, including the cost of the cast-off staff. They have virtually no income, some royalty payment from long a go projects.

The quality is the same, the "skeleton" crew consists of the same testing technicians and quality inspectors as Panavision as they were hired on by Dynamax after being laid off by the temporary agency they were working through. You obviously don't know what you're talking about, as I do first hand. Panavision was not "Given" away. It was a multi million dollar profiting corporation that was purchased by "insider" investors. Please do not speculate as you do not know the aforementioned facts.
ReplyDeleteRumor is the founders are all gone, CTO is gone, layout engineers gone. They are all over on linkedin looking for work. Gutted the design team, and chopped off the head. Supposedly one of the original founders is starting back up with a new company. Anyone know more on the new company as of the result of this?
ReplyDeleteYes I do, Dynamax is finishing test and inspection of sensors in inventory at Homer location.
ReplyDeleteShipping all other orders from Taiwan to new location in Rochester NY at the end of February. Not even working the Dynamax products at this time. The people who are still employed are all looking for work elsewhere as the plan is sketchy for the future of Dynamax. Evan the temp workers are looking for other gainful employment and will not wait to be lied to any more. The whole team was lied to for so long, it is disrespectful of all that was employed at Panavision, I wish the one that where screwed the best of luck, A door shuts and another opens get the hell out of there while the get-ten is good if you are still hanging on. I also hear that two of the people that did not get rehired have found employment out of state of NY.
Dynamax has issues with paying their employees. The old panavision crew has worked for 3 weeks and still received no pay check. The future of Dynamax Imaging looks grim at best.

ReplyDeleteRochester Paper reported today Dynamax relocating 100 jobs from Homer, NY to NY State Tech Center. Not sure the facility in Homer, NY could house 100 member team. Not sure if NY Tax payers are on the hook or not as the article says not. Best imagers in the world? Quite late to the show.. Like Eric said, dream big

It seems that CEO, Jim Tan was shot and killed in Pittsford.
ReplyDeleteThe company relocated to the former Infotonics site in Canandaigua (a while ago, with the usual "future jobs promise"). The data for the company indicates an address in Pittsford (also the address where the shooting took place).
The Ontario County Business Directory site lists 7 employees for the company.
Jim Tan was shot in his face by his son.
