    1. Yes, it's a great offer for a company with 100s of successful products... if you don't look at Mobileye valuation of $6.8B:

    1. That is the real problem with Chinese origin guys in western world. These Chinese guys can be considered as fully integrated into the western culture with a lot of effort, but the western world consider them always as Chinese. I remember the initial advertissement of OV sensors sold by Marchal Electronics, they tagged with "100% American product". This company is set up by Chinese ethnic guys in USA and has made so much contribution to US economy. If they go back to China, that will be a big loss for US industries. If this is confirmed then A LOT will follow the way.

    2. Omnivision is legally a US company. But, at inception and for many years following, the company culture was almost 100% Chinese. All the top managers were educated in China (or Taiwan) and immigrated to the US. The language spoken inside the company was Chinese. Marshall Electronics maybe tagged it as 100% American product back in the late 90's but I am pretty sure the silicon was fabricated overseas, even then, and of course it is today, like most fabless companies. So, it is an overstatement to say the Omnivision Chinese guys were "fully integrated into the western culture."

    3. This may not have anything to do with Chinese or not. The Fillfactory stated in Europe; got acquired by a US company; and then most of the key persons went back to Europe and the business was sold again …

    4. If OV is not considered as an American company, what would be the total CIS market share by all American companies combined? 2~3%?

    5. More like 7~9%?

  4. Datong Chen was co-founded OmniVision Technologies, Inc. and served as Vice President of Technology from 1995 to 2000. He is now working as an capital investor in China. I believe the state own "Hua Capital“ has a very strong relationship with Mr. Chen.
