LCC Package Cuts CMOSIS Sensor Price in Half

CMOSIS is to start sampling low-cost versions of its global shutter CMV2000 (2.2MP/340fps) and CMV4000 (4.2MP/180fps) imagers in May 2015. The new versions differentiate from their CMV equivalents by their IC package, being LCC (Leadless Ceramic Carrier) instead of µPGA. The company is to offer the CMV2000/ CMV4000 imagers at about half the price of the current µPGA versions for volumes over 5000 pcs/year. Besides being lower priced, the LCC-type package offers the additional benefit of surface mount assembly, allowing more compact cameras designs and more economical camera assembly.

"The LCC packaging format will open up a host of high-volume applications and further broaden our strong worldwide position and customer base for advanced camera designs."

  3. In the Sony GS sensor, the storage node is made EXACTLY the same as the transfer gate/CCD gate in an interline CCD : next to the PPD you have a surface channel transfer part and a buried channel storage node. Transfer part and storage node are both "driven" by the gate MOS gate.

    1. My anonymous friend, I explained this in all its details during the Workshop 2 at the Image Sensor Conference in London this week. During that workshop I compared the charge domain solution (e.g. Sony, Aptina, ...) with the voltage domain solution (e.g. CMOSIS, Tohoku Univ., ...). During my presentation, I showed lay-outs of both solutions. Apparently you missed it .....
