e2v Wins Gold Vision Systems Design Innovators Award

e2v Onyx CMOS sensor was awarded Gold by the judges of the annual Vision Systems Design Innovators Awards program. The judging panel consisted of esteemed experts from system integrator and end-user companies. The Onyx 1.3MP high speed CMOS sensor allows discernible images to be produced at extremely low light levels and through diffusing environments (e.g. fog and smoke) by range-gating for use in Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) and security cameras.

Gareth Powell, CMOS Sensors Marketing Manager at e2v, comments, “We are very proud to receive recognition for our innovative CMOS capabilities that make our sensors stand out from the crowd. Our heritage and expertise in imaging technology enables us to differentiate our products with unique features and functions that our customers can exploit to add real value to their end products.

  1. Haven't seen any products incorporating this sensor yet.
Maybe a test balloon to check whether there are enough potential customers...

  2. There is definitely no industrial camera using this sensor. If you know one manufacture, please name it. We tried to use the sensor, but there are some major architecture thing complete different to our camera platform.

    1. I think you are confusing the older Onyx 2MP HD sensor from e2v with the new (and different pixel/architecture) Onyx 1.3MP.

    2. Yes, you're right. It's a bit confusing. Onyx as the overall platform name, but really different sensors in functionallity, features and performance. Both sensors are really different, both have extreme advantanges. Again, please name us a camera manufactor, who is offering an industrial camera with one of these sensors. The 1" optical size of the 1.3 Meg is perfect for a large pixel, but tricky for a c-mount lens. But this situation is getting better in the market, because of many new global shutter pixel constructions in high resolutions.
