  5. It’s sad that people try to build companies on nothing. There is no technology at all there. The image is a monochrome image. Not IR. Might contain a bit IR radiation. They claim increase in sensitivity. It’s probably easier and cheaper to use a 10% larger sensor or larger aperture.

  6. The only thing in the image that even looks like NIR is the row of bushes in the background. There is nothing in the image to demonstrate that this is SWIR beyond 1100nm and the skin brightness perhaps demonstrates that it is not.

  7. The best way to compare is to take images of things having water content. SWIR is completely absorbed in water.. so that part comes out dark. Same goes with skin a bit, but here it is quite bright.

  8. The screen shows 299 or 200 us exposure on RGB. It’s shows 100 um on the IR. That hits at the IR being vis+IR. It makes sense. IR only would look different. Hair typically brighter at swir. Anyways any sensor works at swir. What’s the wow?

  9. This is an amazing image (if it’s real, and as rep of company working with TE I know it is real).
    To see dark face in SWIR you need band pass around 1.4um...
    so for all the nice people who talking like they understand... go open some physics books.

    1. if a new 'revolutionary' product appears in any kind of category and there are statements like this my alarm bell rings... It sounds even a bit like 'you have to believe, I know it is great' ish statements when it comes to esoterics, isnt it? When the term 'amazing' pops up it makes me doubful automatically ;-)
      We are talking about physics, nothing to believe or to feel amazed about. It is pretty easy to demonstrate, like stated above. You dont even need some filters, just a glas of water, or other typical scenes used to demonstrate SWIR properties e.g. a silicon wafer that becomes transparent etc. If it is a amazing image sensor it should be pretty easy to proof the magnitude of its parameters.

  10. I agree with above comments that dark faces only appear when placing a band pass at around 1.4um. Also, the signal in the image probably originates mostly from Vis+NIR (lambda < 1um) photons.
    It would be great if they could place a band pass filter at 1.1um and take the image again. This would clearly show how well their pixel technology works for SWIR photons.
