Barrons: Robert W. Baird analyst Tristan Gerra says Omnivision has a design win with “a leading U.S.-based smartphone OEM ramping in volume this second half, potentially opening the door for further wins at that account.” (He doesn’t say who. Palm, maybe?)
Gerra adds that the company’s market share in China has stabilized after “significant losses” over the last few quarters. “While we see no meaningful recovery in overall market share near-term for OmniVision, difficult comps are behind,” he says.
RIM - it's the Storm.
ReplyDeleteYes, Omnivision shares Storm design win with ST:

However, to me it sounds like Tristan means another, newer design win.
iWonder who it could be?
ReplyDeletePossible the Apple. OV told to handset ODM that they had the design wins at Apple
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Micron's financial difficulty is causing customers to look around. That could be the reason for this news whether the cell phone manufacturer is Motorola or Apple or whoever.
ReplyDeleteFirst of ALL , RIMM is not US based.
ReplyDeleteSecond, Who still count MOT?
Then the answer is A.....
BTW MOT is not smartphone-com
ReplyDeleteIt is APPLE; OVT has come out with their wafer level packaging technology. Apple has designed it in according to sources. RIMM is not US-based! Palm is too small to be called "leading" smartphone company.
ReplyDeleteApple eh? If its WLP, then its got to be a second camera for video conferencing. WLP makes sense for that application because image quality is not as important.
ReplyDeleteMOT does plan to launch some smart phones later this year, so Omnivision probably has some design wins there as well.
Guess what's problem ST met ?
