Hitachi Adds Image Sensor to its Air Conditioners

Hitachi iSee air conditioners use image sensors to directs cool air towards people, based on face detection:

  4. Some Japanese AC have small thermal imagers for air distribution for years. What are the advantages of visible image sensor in this case ?

  5. This is Bad News. Drafts of wind from air conditioners directly on the face can cause facial paralysis. They also cause other issues.

    This tech should be avoided.

    2. yes, it is face detection, But, I think it maybe more solid if changing to "body detection & tracking" scheme. Then the AC could be an data collector for IoT or smart home applications.
