Isn't this the same process used by many other companies making BSI devices? And isn't this oxide -oxide permanent bonding process covered under several US and worldwide patents? Has IMEC licensed that process then from that(those) patent holders? Is IMEC now providing a COMMERCIAL product in the world marketplace potentially competing with its PARTNERS?
If they come to market with a product without licensing technologies cunningly, they will be engulfed by lawsuits.. these are all existing technologies which are heavily patented... eCCD is not a SPECIALITY approach.. I know one company who is pioneering that already for a few years.. nor is BSI.
Imec is a non-profit research center. The money they get are reinvested in research. Dont see the issue with the patents here..Is it written somewhere that no research can be done in patented technologies??

ReplyDeleteApparently IMEC does not only compete with IMEC's partners, but also with IMEC's daughters or spin-offs ....

ReplyDeleteeCCD was presented by Keith Fife in the IISW in 2009...and I'm sure I may have missed earlier work on this

ReplyDeleteWe are talking about products, not research.
DeleteBtw, I don't see why the slide with the ADCs is shown here.. Those are ADCs for telecomunication field. Quite different from those used in imaging..
