"photonicSENS' single lens 3D depth sensing solution will be a game changer for smartphones," says Ann Whyte, President of photonicSENS, "The 3D depth camera reference designs of this collaboration are based on our single lens apiCAM technology that with a single device delivers simultaneously an RGB image and depth map to offer smartphone manufacturers the means to differentiate with enhanced photographic features, a 1.4Mpx depthmap, the lowest component count, lowest cost and the lowest power dissipation, as well as the best performance in any environment. Snapdragon 888 is a clear leader, and we are excited to be working with Qualcomm Technologies to release our cutting-edge 3D sensing solution to market."
Apart from trying to be a "game changer" - what is the measurement principle?
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed a very good question.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to know how does this work? Does it have to move or can be 3D recreated from a Sigle shoot?
ReplyDeleteThey claim to be able to get 3D from a single shoot
DeleteI checked their website and Googled for presentations/publications from PhotonicSens. There's nothing describing their technology (if I had to guess, I'd guess all-pixel PDAF). How is anyone supposed to be interested in evaluating this module?
ReplyDeleteI guess it is a lightfield camera with some coding of multiple viewpoints in lens
