Panasonic Proposes Color-Based 3D Imager
Panasonic patent application US20120293634 "Three-dimensional imaging device" by Yasunori Ishii and Masao Hiramoto proposes to use color mask in the lens to get color shift-based parallax information and determine the distance to the objects:
