Yeah, I was at that show. It is a canned "concept demo" and not something that actually takes a real-time picture and does the ap. Do all tech companies do this at some point or another? Sure, but usually in consumer (see: Leap) and not B2B where buyers are a little less likely to buy on the sizzle and wait for the steak.
As an entrepreneur who has been down this big VC $ path, this turns my stomach a bit. $37M in, and only a [very fake and somewhat crappy] mock-up of software capabilities to show at the moment. I completely understand the pressure that results in this though, and sympathize... building stuff like this is much harder than one can possibly anticipate.
Who needs this app. Just use photoshop or alike. Even develop such lame app will cost a few k usd. Why 37 million? Who are the suckers that have them such amounts?
Qualcomm are the suckers that pay these clowns. I would be ashamed showing these fake stuff it I was Qualcomm. (I am not). Look like Qualcomm is desperate (MTK eating their profits).
If the camera is on the tablet why don't they use it?
ReplyDeleteIts a mock up and the app they show is a mock :) 100% fake. See the hand painted bounderies around the lady when they play with her colors.
ReplyDeleteNot a mock, it's a pretty good joke, for 20M :D
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this is happening..
