Forbes, CNET and other news sites quote veteran tech journalist Robert Scoble Facebook post claiming that "A Zeiss employee confirmed the rumors that Apple and Carl Zeiss AG are working on a light pair of augmented reality/mixed reality glasses that may be announced this year."
Few other bits of info originated from Robert Scoble, talking about 3D camera integration into Apple products:
"they are building the PrimeSense sensor right into the television, into the iPad and into the iPhone… so you can do this kind of mixed reality."
“I interviewed the guy who runs PrimeSense and they have 600 engineers in Israel working on just the 3D sensor. What’s coming in 11 months is going to blow even my mind.”
The wisest move would be to leave (as usual) the groundbreaking techs for the 8th iPhone and leave the 7s with minor improvements.
ReplyDeleteAnd then with iPhone 8 I presume the logical MARKET unique feature would be stereo cameras on the back complimented by volume sensors.
And for additional $100 a mortal customer like me could buy the iphone "VR holder" to form an AR experience with just any custom app for iOS out there ;-)
If they haven't already thought about it - I haven't patented the idea yet.
