As Himax mentioned in its 2009 earning release, it has started offering wafer level optics products, similarly to Heptagon, Anteryon and Tessera. The company's WLO page lists VGA and 2MP wafer level lenses as the standard offerings.
With Himax claim that its WLO is "well-received by a number of the world's first-tier CMOS image sensor and camera module makers", it looks like the competition in wafer scale optics is intensifying.
It didn't take long for WLC to become commodities with second tier CIS suppliers.
