GizmoChina: Huawei presents the new Honor 6 Plus mobile phone with dual rear camera. The two 8MP cameras can shot 13MP pictures when combined, or, in low light, provide a sensitivity equivalent to pixel size of 1.98um. The dual camera also supports HDR mode and fast 0.1s AF based on stereo triangulation and features a new DSLR-like ISP integrated onto its HiSilicon Kirin 925 application processor.
A Youtube video with English subtitles explains the dual camera features:
There is an ISP chip marked "al 6045". Does anyone know which company provide the chip?
ReplyDeleteI got the information, the ISP chip is from ALTEK.
ReplyDeleteit's Taiwan based camera company.
DeleteCurrently Taiwan based Altek is the only CCM vendor who has commercialized the dual camera module.
DeleteLooks similar to Pelican's idea...
ReplyDeleteBut they have put too many cameras...
DeleteNo, they just have too tiny cameras. I hope this trend grows like core count on phone CPUs. Maby in ten years most of us have 16x 1/2" sensors in each phone, performing like full frame cameras today (on photon noise under certain operation modes).
DeleteRegardless manufacturing and assembling 16 pieces of optical lenses in right form and right position simultaneously, yes, I believe it certainly can happen in much less than ten years.
Deletethe selling price for this phone is 1999RMB and 2499RMB for 4G version, which is only about $320 and $400 in USD, respectively......really curious to see the performance of this phone&cameras in real life.
ReplyDelete13 MP + 2 MP sensors would cost less and consume less power while providing all the benefits from the 2 x 8 MP symmetrical sensor configuration.
ReplyDeletehow do you make a thin single 13MP camera module with 1.98um pixels?
