Electronic Design published a promotional article about Omnivision's OV5642 BSI SoC sensor. About the only new thing I was able to spot is that the sensor is sampling now, and expected to enter volume production this quarter.
According to marketing Omnivision is building complete camera modules too. They haven't announced this yet, but the part numbering sustem is on their website.
The BSI architecture enables a low-light performance in excess of 500 mV/Lux-s.
That's not in the company's product brief. I guess they didn't bother because its not all that great. You'd think that BSI would help in this department, but the pixels are smaller so ...
