Sony Uses RGBC-IR Sensor to Improve White Balance

This 2 month old video shows that Sony uses RGBC-IR sensor to improve the white balance in a mobile phone:

    1. Clear usually results in excessive crosstalk. Aptina learned that and ended up using yellow in Clarity+.

  2. Is this an imaging sensor or a point sensor please ?

  3. Seems this sensor measures spectral oddity of the scene and auto-applies stuff like fluorescent or LED lighting compensation. Smart idea, actually. And I think it could also be done with 1% of image sensor pixels in those 'funny' colors.
