Photoneo Presentation

Photoneo presentation at Vision Show in Stuttgart, Germany, on Nov. 6-8, 2018 shows its Parallel Structured Light 3D camera concepts:

  1. Not clear to me what are the inherent advantages of this “mosaic matrix” shutter read-out technique in general, and specifically for 3D imaging: can anyone help to point out the PROs and CONs of this approach?

    1. As written in the previous Photoneo post, their sensor apparently have 2 mor more memories in each pixel:

      So, the mosaic shutter actually controls not only the exposure but also to which memory the signal is stored.

      I'd guess they project few patterns of structured light and store it in different memories. Then, they see how the projected patterns align with the mosaic shutter patterns in different memories and, possibly, improve the resolution.

      There is a clear trade-off between the number of these correlations and the resulting spatial resolution - see their slide on speed vs resolution.
