Pinnacle Promises to Minimize Motion Artifacts in ON Semi HDR Sensor

PRWeb: Pinnacle Imaging Systems and ON Semiconductor jointly announce a lower cost HDR video surveillance solution capable of capturing 120 dB DR scenes with 1080p 30 fps output.

The Pinnacle Imaging Systems Denali-MC HDR ISP IP Core running on Xilinx Zynq 7030 SoC has been ported to support ON Semi AR0239 sensor with Denali-MC’s motion compensation algorithms minimize motion artifacts often associated with multi-exposure HDR capture and Pinnacle’s locally adaptive tone mapping.

As a technology partner, ON Semiconductor has been instrumental in providing the critical support necessary to bring this project to fruition,” said Alfred Zee, CEO of Pinnacle Imaging Systems. “The high dynamic range capabilities of the ON Semiconductor AR0239 sensor, coupled with the performance of the Xilinx Zynq SoC, make an ideal foundation for our Ultra HDR Surveillance Platform. Working closely with the ON Semiconductor team, we’ve been able to achieve the best possible HDR and low light performance from the AR0239 CMOS image sensor.

    1. In their PR, they call it SoC rather than FPGA, for some strange reason. You are right, FPGA is the correct term.

    2. Because Zynq is a SoC - it is primarily an ARM CPU core with a DDR memory controller and several other important peripherals. The programmable logic (FPGA) portion is rather a "slave", that gets programmed along the cpu boot or once the OS on the CPU is running.

  3. Having seen a live demo some time ago, I think that there are still an effort to do. But it's a good solution for video surveillance application.

  4. doubt that now. heard they have design wins in robotic cars. tech and processes always get better.
