Movidius' Myriad 2 Wins EETimes ACE Award

EETimes and EDN announce their joint 2015 Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards. About the only imaging device in the long list of awardees is Movidius Myriad 2 vision processor. The 28nm processor features 12 MIPI lanes to connect to up to six 1080p60 cameras, and is said to consume less than 500mW.

It can be used in a number of applications:
  • Computational photography (rapid autofocus, HDR, extreme low light)
  • 3D modeling & scanning
  • Indoor navigation
  • 360-degree panoramic video
  • Visual analytics
  • Immersive gaming, augmented reality
  • Gesture recognition
  • Always-on face and object detection
