  3. Registration confirmation of all 160 participants (20th of Feb.) predates the paper acceptance confirmation (13th of Mar.). Can you comment how you intend to guarantee registration of presenters like this? Should authors preregister irrespective of knowing whether their contributions are actually accepted?

    1. Probably this is best answered by one of the workshop chairs. All selected presenters are guaranteed to have their registration accepted. Filling the remaining seats at the meeting is ideally first come, first served, but due to the way the meeting overfills (usually within hours of registration opening) and because some early bird companies send in a dozen registrations while the rest of the world is still sleeping, there is some selection that has to be done to balance the attendance company wise and region wise. It is a major headache for the co-chairs and I am glad it is not my headache this time around. Still, it is our feeling that to maintain the quality of the workshop we need to limit the attendance and we are sorry to have to turn great people away. That said, we are trying to reserve some seats to ensure fresh faces get to attend. On behalf of all the organizers, thank you for your understanding and participation.

I also note that we do publish all the papers, available to everyone at no charge, on our website within a few months of the meeting. We are also looking into new ways to best serve our community. Lastly, remember we all have busy day jobs and this organization and meeting is fully staffed by volunteers. We would love to have more volunteers and for sure we will need help with 2019 IISW to be held in North America.

    2. I see I failed to answer your exact questions.
      (1) I believe there is a typo. Probably 20th Feb should be 20th Mar.
      (2) see (1) and my earlier comment.
      (3) Yes, if you want to attend, author or not, please preregister.

    3. Thank you! A typo could indeed explain the issue.
