CTimes: Powerchip has signed a cooperation agreement with China Anhui Hefei government, to set up a joint venture “Hefei Jinghe”, a 12-inch fab located in Hefei with monthly production capacity of 40,000 wafers, with total investment of 13.53 billion yuan. The new joint venture will have 0.15um, 0.11um and 90nm processes, and will manufacture image sensors, among other things.
I think that this is mainly for LCD driver chips, but CIS is more attractive for stock market.

ReplyDeleteJust remind you that OVT's first sensors have been made by Powerchip before they moved to TSMC. They have still some products on 12-inch line at Hsinchu. But from my point of view, they provide simply a process plateform that knowledgable design houses can make their own recipes.
