Gratings for 3D Sensing

Synopsys publishes a presentation on "Design of Gratings for 3D Depth Sensing" by Tung Yu Su, Richard Hu, and Morgan Lu, Cybernet System Taiwan.

    Why is SL always limited to <1m distance? Is it a VCsel strength issue or optical issue, or...?

      Not necessarily limited. It's a matter of the baseline between camera and projector. Kinect-1 range was 5m, for example, with a base of 7.5cm.
