When radar and vision disagree, which one do you believe? Vision has much more precision, so better to double down on vision than do sensor fusion.

These things are best thought of as probabilities. There are 5 forward-facing cameras. It is highly likely that at least one of them will see multiple cars ahead.

Tesla uses AR0136AT image sensors on all eight cameras. I don't see how a functional safe system can be done with the Tesla setup - just 1280x960 @54 fps, HDR only with 3x time shifted exposure (leads to ghosting effects). Front facing may be ok, as there is triple redundancy and a cleaning solution, but the other cameras don't overlap and there is also no cleaning solution. Desperate IMO.
