The multi drop solution is interesting. Many sensors using the same bus. But the phase shift - delayed transmission of the image - is not possible with the current rolling shutter images sensors. There is no storage for the delayed image data. Multiplexing only lines could be an idea. And keep in mind, stereo camera systems need sensors in sync.
