Panasonic Introduces 1/3-inch 1.33MP Sensors for Security Applications

Panasonic publishes a flyer presenting MN34210PL and MN34219PL sensors for security and surveillance applications. The sensors feature:
  • Able to capture sharp and vivid color images at 0.05 lux
  • High speed, up to 120fps
  • New Wide Dynamic Range function supports high speed and high sensitivity movie
  • Industry’s leading low noise sensor (no numbers)
  • Industry’s leading low power consumption sensor (no numbers)

    I guess that 0.05lux is faceplate illumination. Since at 0.05lux faceplate at 30 fps, each pixel will get about 50e. SO with 1-2e readout noise, it's possible to get a good color image. But if we apply 0.05lux scene, then even with F1.4, we will get only 5e signal in each pixel. Basically 1Lux scene is needed to image correctly, a reasonable performance.
