"Our third quarter performance was better than we expected, and we continued to report improvements on multiple financial metrics, including gross margin and cash position," said Shaw Hong, CEO of OmniVision. "Our flagship PureCel sensors are gaining traction in the market. PureCel sensors have significantly better pixel performance, lower power consumption, and an attractive cost structure. We are very excited about our new product lineup."

Update: SeekingAlpha published Omnivision's earning call transcript. Few quotes:

"we shipped 214 million units as compared to the 237 million units in our prior quarter. The average selling price in our third quarter was $1.64 as compared to $1.67 in the prior quarter. The slight decrease in the ASP was driven by quarterly price erosion across product lines in all regional markets."

"Related to licensing of certain CMOS image sensor-related patents from the California Institute of Technology for the [licensing] arrangement that total fee was approximately $25.3 million."- this is a flat fee, not tied to the number of units sold, as later clarified in Q&A session.
