ON Semi LED Flicker Mitigation Demo

ON Semi demos its LED flicker reduction in AR0233 automotive HDR sensor:

  1. The sensor sensitivity appears to be quite low for a very bright light box. I am assuming this is the drawback to this method of LFM.

  2. Video appears to be toned down due to high dynamic range capturing. Hard to show on a 8-bit display that this sensor is much more sensitive than iPhone camera in comparison.

  3. Contrast is very low/dull on the display, which actually is good: it means a lot of dynamic range is accomodated by this sensor.

  5. The picture does not look very good. I doubt it can actually do true 140dB. I would like to see how it stacks up with a chart from Imatest such as their ultra wide DR chart: http://store.imatest.com/test-charts/dynamic-range/dynamic-range-test-charts.html

    So basically an actual quantifiable real world DR image data point. Not false data sheet claims.
