While we are at sad news, BillingsGazette reports that John Ladd has passed away. John used to work for Aptina, Rambus, BAE, and Altasens and holds over 70 patents, mostly in image sensor technology, which was an impressive number at his age of 38.
I do have to admit that I do not know John as well as I did know Howard. Sad, very sad to read that this young imaging engineer passed away as well. Rest In Peace John !
This is really crappy news. I didn't know John well, but in all the interactions we had at Aptina (which I had joined from AltaSens), I was left highly impressed by his intelligence and ability to grasp complex concepts.
John also has 3 granted patents from the time he worked at Rambus. There are a few applications still working their way through the PTO process, so the number will likely continue to rise.
