Albert Theuwissen published the next part of his series of excellent reports from ISSCC, this time talking about global shutter sensors. Sony 10MP and Tohoku University sensors are nicely discussed.
Albert, I remember that there is an old IEEE paper by SONY talking about the smear reduction in IL-CCD sensor. They said that the Alu layer can not stop all the light and special W based optical shield layer is needed. How about the light shield layer this 5M/10M GS Sony sensor ?
whoops, not actually there. They showed propagation of cracks in glass after being struck by a hard object. They say glass cracks propagate at something like 3-4 km/sec. It was very nice.
